Who I am

Meet Parichay.

Who?

I'm a 27-year-old performance marketing professional, and I’ve got the degrees, too - a Master’s in Commerce from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce (August 2019), + a Bachelor’s in Advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign’s College of Media (May 2017).

Why?

Because why not? You get the inside scoop into my attempts at finding my place in the world. I’m all about the advertising and branding space - seen it, studied it, and now practicing it (maybe someday I’ll write a catchy jingle?). You’ll find me trying to find new opportunities to grow professionally and find a way to build new intersections between work and everyday life.

Where?

WFH Version: You’ll find me in whichever city or country will let me in. I’m finally trying out the digital nomad lifestyle and I’ve been loving it - the current pandemic notwithstanding.

If WFH ends: You’ll find me in the big apple, New York, NY. I realized that in order to be part of the branding and creative sciences world, I need to move to a city that embodies that intersection. Having been around the eastern coast, I decided to take a leap of faith and make this city my temporary (and maybe permanent?) home.

Past: Spent a year in Charlottesville, VA. Lived in New Delhi, India. Lived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I've lived in Champaign, Illinois. I've lived in Detroit, Michigan. For a short period of time I've even lived in Chicago, Illinois.

Each location taught me something and helped me grow into the person I am today. I've taken in cultures from around the world, and I've learned the importance of diversity and inclusiveness. I understand what it means to have a different opinion, and how feedback can only make me a better person.

Most of all, I've tried to stay ahead with fundamental truths about how people think. Whether it's the Millennials of the world or the Gen Z’s of tomorrow, observing and studying people makes me understand what they look for and how they think. I learned that people may be from different backgrounds and countries, but there are some universal truths that transcend those boundaries.

And?

And I can go on and on…

My interests extend from the excitement of consumer technology and the joy of reading to the art of maximizing frequent flier points and air miles to help make the most of my free time. Understanding the pull a brand has over a consumer’s decisions truly drives my learning.

Additionally, Netflix and Hulu combined can be considered a way of life.

I spend a large portion of my free time reading whatever I can get my hands on. Travel blogs, magazines, AdWeek / AdAge, Fiction, Biographies, Non-fiction, History; anything and everything I can get my hands on. One of my most prized possessions is my Kindle, and you'll never find me traveling without it.

An avid reader, technology enthusiast, branding fanatic bundled together with an insatiable desire to travel the world. There's a lot that my resume and profile can talk about - how much I love the world of marketing, and how I've spent the past six years of my life staying immersed and busy with all that's been happening all around me.

From international and boutique ad agencies like FCB Chicago and Praxis Advertising to boutique consulting firms in Detroit, and now at WITHIN, my journey so far has been a learning curve that I'm proud to call my own.
